Biography--

Jack L. Meyers, 69, of La Porte City, Iowa, died Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics from Blastomycosis.

Jack was born October 25, 1947 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Bud and Berneice Gulick Meyers. He graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1966; attended UNI for three years until he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Jack married Roberta "Bert" Creedon on May 17, 1969, at Hammond Avenue Brethren Church while on leave after boot camp. Jack and the Meyers family have owned and operated Meyers Nursery for 3 generations.

Jack was a member of Hammond Avenue Brethren Church. He was a Certified Nurseryman from the Iowa Nursery and Landscape Association, and a Lifetime Member of the Black Hawk Archers. Jack was a quality man. He was a devoted follower of Christ and taught Sunday School for many years at the church. He was a great family guy. Jack was very mechanical and definitely a hard worker. He was an all-around outdoorsman. His only fault may have been his spelling.

Jack is survived by his wife Bert of La Porte City; his three children and seven grandchildren: daughter Kerrie Michael, her husband Stephen of La Porte City, and their children Hannah, Sarah, and Mia; son Roy Meyers and his wife Marisa of Cedar Falls; and daughter Joanna Grote and her husband Jacob of Bismarck, North Dakota, and their children Olivia, Reagan, Jack, and Charlie. He is also survived by his mother Berneice of Waterloo and two sisters, Peggy Grutz, and her husband Tom, of La Porte City, and Linda Lindner and her husband Mike, of Dunkerton.

Jack was preceded in death by his father.
