Biography--

Kirby Adler, age 92, of Waterloo, died on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at his home.

He was born on May 3, 1925 in Aurelia, Iowa; the son of Leonard and Minnie Adler. Kirby graduated from high school in Marcus, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946.

Kirby married Marion “Betty” Foster on June 25, 1950, at Linden Methodist Church in Waterloo; she preceded him in death on January 25, 2003.

He worked on the kill line at Rath Packing Co. for over 30 years, retiring in 1979. After retirement, he caught and sold night crawlers, he had also sold Precious Moments. Kirby enjoyed singing, flower gardening, Iowa Hawkeyes basketball, and the St. Louis Cardinals.

He is survived by his daughter, Peggy (Kyle) McLaughlin of Clear Lake, Iowa; three grandchildren, Nikki (Chris) Krambeer of Boone, Iowa; Kory McLaughlin of Clear Lake, and McKenzie McLaughlin of Clear Lake; and two great-grandchildren, Shaylee Steffen and Nevaeh Krambeer.

Kirby was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; and eight siblings: Jack, Vivian, Garland, A.C., Linvel Adler, Alberta Ross, Riva, and Opal Lochte.

Services: 1 p.m. Friday, July 28, at Garden View Chapel, with burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be for an hour before services on Friday at Garden View.
