February 9, 1930 - July 20, 2017

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Charlotte “Charlie” Giberson Lyons, 87, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, formerly of Las Vegas, NV died Thursday, July 20, 2017 at her home.

She was born February 9, 1930 in Lincoln, Nebraska, daughter of Claude Berlin and Libbie Dorice (Maranek) Beamis. She married Dean Giberson on January 31, 1953 and he died May 15, 1976. She then married Kenneth Lyons on May 4, 1985, and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2004.

She worked in Creative Display for 42 years at JCPenney, Dayton Hudson, and Broadways in Las Vegas as well as decorated various casinos in Las Vegas for holidays. She retired in 2000 as creator of displays for JCPenney in Waterloo.

Charlotte enjoyed spending time with her family and puppies. She was really looking forward to two more great-grandchildren on the way. She loved flower gardening and her favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and Christmas. Charlie loved to laugh and everyone will miss her great sense of humor.

She is survived by two daughters, Jan Flemetakis and Jill Giberson Bass, both of Cedar Falls; three sons: Thomas (Cindy) Giberson of Cedar Falls, Eric Giberson of Las Vegas, NV, and Jeff (Kathy) Giberson of Cedar Falls; one step daughter, Cheryl Lyons Voelschow; and four step sons: Mike, Dave, Scott, and KC Lyons; 15 grandchildren: Stephanie (Darin) Johnson, D.J. Flemetakis, Brent Giberson, Andy Giberson, Libbee (Josh) Trumblee, Hannah Bass, Jacoby (Erick) Hill, Dylan Giberson, Nick (Laura) Giberson, Dominique Johnson and Dylan Johnson; four great grandchildren, Cooper Johnson, Asher and Alexa Giberson, and Dallas Tisue; one great-great-grandson, Braxton Johnson; and a special angel, Jennifer Harrold.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, Jack and Claude Beamis; two step sons, Randy and Ed Lyons; and a step daughter, Nicky Lyons.

Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls, with inurnment at a later date in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Richardson Funeral Service and also for one hour prior to the service.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to UnityPoint Hospice.
