John Merle Goodwin

John Merle Goodwin 82, of Dysart, passed away at Allen Memorial Hospital on July 21, 2017.

John was born on October 22, 1934, in Mooreville, Iowa, the son of Charles and Muriel (Byous) Goodwin. John attended school in Dysart. He enlisted in the Army in 1953 spending most of his tour in Alaska. On December 8, 1956, he was united in marriage to Judith Ann Severson. When Judy passed away in 2009 they were married 52 years.

John retired from John Deere in 1990. During his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Later in life he enjoyed gardening and feeding the squirrels and birds.

Survivors include three children, John (Becky) of Dysart, Bob (Evelyn) of Oskaloosa, Lisa (Juan) Goodwin -Noyola of Bettendorf and grandsons Ryan (Janet) of Chicago IL and Stephen of Oskaloosa. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Judy, and eight siblings.
