September 15, 1904 ~ September 28, 2002WOOD, SD - Aurelia Dickson, age 98, of Wood, South Dakota died on Saturday, September 28, 2002 at Winner, South Dakota.
Aurelia was born on September 15, 1904 in Waterloo, Iowa to Edward and Susan (Gales) Bender. She grew up in Waterloo and graduated from West High School in Waterloo in 1923. She later attended Iowa State Teachers College and graduated in 1928 with a degree in teaching. Aurelia started teaching in Wood, South Dakota in 1929. She met and married Ervin Dickson in 1931. To this union, six children were born: Margaret, Willis "Kiki", Marie, Rheba, George and Louise. She resumed teaching in 1945.
She enjoyed her teaching career for 28 years and especially the school activities.
She is survived by two daughters, Margaret (Fred) Dykman of Tucson, AZ; Louise (Ervin) Erdelt of Colusa, CA; two sons, Willis "Kiki" Dickson of Mission, SD and George Dickson of Wood, SD; two sons-in-law, Robert Haeder of Wolsey, SD and James Chamberlain of Custer, SD; three sisters, Marie Will of Waterloo, IA; Virginia Sodergren and Joan McDonnell, both of St. Joseph, MI.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; her parents; two daughters, Rheba and Marie; one sister, Engreatia Spars, and one brother, Arnold Bender.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 2nd at 10 a.m. at the Wood Community Hall in Wood, SD.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Wood. Visitation will begin Tuesday, October 1st from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home in Winner.
