Beate Maria Lamos

Beate Maria Lamos, 74, died Wednesday, June 21 at Northcrest Specialty Care.

She was born March 6, 1943 in Freisen, Germany, daughter of Joseph and Rosa Scherschel. She married John Lamos on December 9, 1960 in Freisen, Germany and they were later divorced.

Beate was employed in sales and as a designer for Flowerama.

She is survived by a son, John (Jodi) Lamos of Gilbertville; two daughters, Jennifer (Jason) Newcom of Sun Tan Valley, Arizona, and Theresa (Bill) Schmitz of Jesup; eight grandchildren, Michael Lamos, Mitchell Lamos, Breatta Schmitz, Nick Schmitz, Ty, Isabelle, Emma and Chloe Newcom; a brother, Joseph Scherschel of St. Wendel; a sister, Sophie Scherschel of Germany.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, both in Gilbertville. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street. There will be no visitation at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Bosco System.

One of Beate’s proudest moments was when she became a U.S. citizen on September 22, 2004.
