Biography--

Roy Gene Pearce, 74, of Washburn, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born March 28, 1943 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Henry H. and Lillie Mae (Byrns) Pearce. He married Gerrie Kay Shepard on September 30, 1961 in Waterloo, Iowa.

Roy worked at John Deere Foundry for 30 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 838, Black Hawk County Street Machines and was a local area musician for many years.

Roy was survived by his wife, Kay Pearce of Washburn; two sons, Al (Rhonda) Pearce of Washburn, Rodney (Eddie Mireau) Pearce of Lyle, Minnesota; one granddaughter who he raised as his own, Rhonda (Markius) Pearce-Holmes of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Ross and Samantha Pearce of Waterloo and one brother, Paul (Glenda) Pearce of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Dixie Pearce; one grandson, Brandon Pearce and a brother, Carl Pearce.
