Obituary for Kathleen Anne Holcomb

Kathleen Anne Holcomb (Kathy Lorenzo), 61, returned to live with her Heavenly Father June 6, 2017. There she was greeted by her father, Frank Lorenzo; maternal grandparents, Dwight & Marie (Melvin) Perrine; and paternal grandparents, Frank & Helen (Levickas) Lorenzo.

Survivors include her husband, Greg of Cedar Falls; mother, Lynne (Perrine) Lorenzo of Cresco, IA; brother, Rick Lorenzo of Cedar Rapids, IA; sister, Sue (Lorenzo) Larson of Hillsboro, WI; brother, Steve Lorenzo of New York, NY; niece, Cassie (Joe) Lorenzo-Krancki of London, UK; niece, Erica Lorenzo of Ashland, OR; niece, Ellie Lorenzo of Cedar Rapids, IA; grandniece, Kensal Krancki of London, UK; and grandnephew, Parker Krancki of London, UK.

Kathy was born February 21, 1956 in Marshalltown, IA, the daughter of Frank and Lynne Lorenzo. She graduated from Crestwood High School – Cresco, IA in 1974. Kathy attended St. Mary’s University in Winona, MN and then transferred to the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA for her final three years. She graduated in 1978 with her BSE. Kathy taught 6th grade in Bellevue, IA and then in Gilbertville, IA. She really enjoyed teaching Religious Education at St. Patrick’s School in Cedar Falls, which she did for a number of years.

Kathy and Greg Holcomb met while students at UNI and were married July 21, 1979. They have resided in Cedar Falls since that time.

Kathy's hobbies included reading, writing poetry, working with kids, mentoring her young nieces, and at the time of her death was trying to complete a novel she was writing.
