CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – James A. McKinley, 60, of Cedar Falls died Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Bickford Cottages in Cedar Falls.

He was born December 22, 1956, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of William and Noreen (Doyle) McKinley. He married Phyllis Burger in Cedar Falls, and they later divorced.

He graduated from Columbus High School in 1974, earned his BA in Accounting from the University of Iowa in 1978, and was a Certified Public Accountant. He was an accountant for John Deere and a member of their overseas audit staff.

He worked for Armstrong at their corporate headquarters in Lancaster, Penn. and was a chief financial officer for factories in Bourbonnais, IL and California, and for multiple regional factories in the Midwest. He returned to Iowa and worked for firms in Mason City and Oelwein. Jim was an avid golfer and took annual trips to different states and courses.

Survived by: three brothers, William (Joyce) of Cedar Falls, Thomas (Lisa) of Denver, CO, and Peter (George Litteken) of Palm Coast, FL; three sisters-in-law, Linda McKinley of East Peoria, IL, Cindy McKinley of Evergreen, CO, and Tara McKinley.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and two brothers, Joseph and John McKinley.

Services: Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, and also for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Columbus High School in Waterloo.
