Biography--

Elaine Gaston, 87, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at home on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, of natural causes.

She was born December 10, 1929 in Crawford, Wisconsin, daughter of William and Elnora Tyre Payne. Elaine married Donald Gaston on March 25, 1950 in Jeffersonville, Indiana; he died November 15, 1989.

Elaine’s greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always looked forward to spending time with them. When her health allowed, she loved playing Bingo. She was also a pretty good seamstress.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Gene) Brown and Brenda Gaston, both of Waterloo; six grandchildren: Jeff (Penny) Laue, Brian (Beth) Wyant, Stephanie (Al) Edwards, Melissa (Marc) Boggess, Melinda (Chad) Williams and Melaine (Chad) Dix; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Payne of Livingston, Wisconsin and Stephen (Connie) Payne of Pine, Colorado; and a sister, Norma (Don) Richmond, Oregon, Wisconsin.

Elaine is preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Johnson; a granddaughter, Charity Wyant; two sisters, Orva Payne and Delena Spink; and a brother, Vilas Payne.
