Obituary for Michael I. Hecht

Michael I. Hecht, 65, of Glendale, Arizona, and formerly of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, March 18, in Scottsdale, Arizona.

He was born May 2, 1951 in Bronx, New York, the son of Max and Sylvia Silberman Hecht.

Michael received his Master’s degree in Psychology, reading and special education from Lehman College. He was employed with AEA267 as principal of Devonshire School, retiring in 2007.

Survivors include: his fiancee, Kristi Koss; a son, Shad (Renee) Hecht of Glendale, Arizona; two daughters, Kerri (Shawn) Randall of Raymond and Whitney (Ben) Smith of Cedar Falls; and four grandchildren, Maddox Hecht, Greyson and Henry Smith and Jaxon Randall.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and two brothers, Leslie and Steven Spatz.

Services will be 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls. There will be no visitation.

Following the burial there will be a lunch (Shiva) and celebration of life in Raymond.
