Obituary for Ralph Eugene Neubauer--

Ralph Eugene Neubauer passed away at Unity Point Hospice/Allen Hospital, Waterloo,Iowa, on April 9, 2017 at the age of 79.

For the past three years Ralph was well cared for and made his home at the Country View Care Center, Waterloo. The caring staff at Country View have been a true blessing for Ralph and his family.

Ralph was born March 11, 1938 in Radcliffe, Iowa, the son of Arthur & Mrytle (Welland) Neubauer. He grew up in Iowa Falls, IA and was a graduate of Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls and Iowa State Teachers College (UNI), Cedar Falls. He taught high school biology and math plus coached baseball and basketball in the Lytton and Brooklyn-Guernsey-Malcolm school districts early in his life.

After his teaching career, the family moved to Iowa Falls and Ralph was employed in the office of Gilbert Builders. He spent most of his later life in the Des Moines and Mason City areas and had many friends. Ralph was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing golf and pool. He was married to Elizabeth Case, they were later divorced. Four children were born from this union and survive him. Natalie Schumacher (Craig) of Ames, Barry Neubauer of Des Moines, Scott Neubauer (Angela) of Minnetonka, MN and Cindy Stuve of Ames. Dad had great pride in his grandchildren: Matt Neubauer, Tim (Jessica) Neubauer, Maxamillian Neubauer, Hayley Schumacher, Riley Stuve, Naomi Neubauer, Lauren Schumacher, Madison Neubauer, Jordan Stuve, Kingsley Neubauer, and Sam Stuve. He is also survived by his brother Ronald (Mary) of Ackley, his sister Linda Kirby of Madison, OH and his sister Joan Reighard (Jerry) of Alden. He was preceded in death by both parents,infant sister Norma, infant brother Jean, his brothers Lyle, Duane and Marvin and sisters Ruth and Zelda.

If you wish to honor our Dad’s memory, please consider a donation to any one of the facilities that assisted and cared for him so well in the past ten years. Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City; Good Shepherd Retirement Apartments, Mason City, IA; The Mayo Clinic and Hospitals, Rochester MN, Country View Care Center, Waterloo, IA or Unity Point Hospice/Allen Hospital, Waterloo. No funeral services will be held. Dad has donated his body to The Mayo Clinic Department of Anatomy for medical education and research.
