Obituary for Robert Fontanini

Robert C. “Bob” Fontanini, 59, of LaPorte City, Iowa, and formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 10, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

He was born November 8, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa, son of Blasco and Harriett Alliss Fontanini. He married Paula Warner February 7, 1981 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa.

Bob graduated from Ankeny High School in 1976. He has been employed with Black Hawk Sprinklers, Cedar Falls, since 1982. He loved spending time outdoors whether it was biking, fishing, golfing or traveling. He like spending time with his grandkids, was a long-time bowler and Nascar fan. Everyone who knew him appreciated his sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Chris (Jennifer) Fontanini of Garrison and Michael Fontanini of LaPorte City; a daughter, Laura Fontanini of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren: Joseph,Caleb, Bryan, Katie, Elizabeth and Danica; a brother, Steve (Melinda) Fontanini of Ankeny; and three sisters: Virginia (Ron) Gilbert of Ocala, Florida, Karen Wittenbeck of Wildwood, Florida and Barbara (Patrick) Breen of Venice, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to noon Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, followed by a private family service.
