September 17, 1930 - May 25, 2017

Louis Phillips Jr., 86, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Thursday, May 25, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born September 17, 1930, in Canton, Mississippi, the son of Louis Sr. and Eula Phillips. He married Gladys Perry in 1958 in Waterloo and she died in 1985. He married Anne White on July 19, 1986, in Waterloo.

Louis served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was employed at John Deere for 39 years.

Survivors include: his wife, Anne, of Waterloo; a son, Joe of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren, Teresa, LuShia, Nathaniel, and Joseph; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: his parents; four sisters, Lena Mae Jenkins-Rodgers, Eula Phillips-Harris, Audrey Phillips-Sallis, Vermillion Phillips-Reasby; a brother, George Jenkins.

Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 1, at Payne Memorial AME Church with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the Waterloo Amvets Post 19 and Evansdale Amvets Post 31, assisted by the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Public visitation from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday both at the church. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street is in charge of arrangements.
