James A. “Skip” Powell, age 55, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Wednesday May 24, at Covenant Medical Center, in Waterloo.

He was born September 10, 1961, in Waterloo, the son of John (Jack) and Beverly Powell. He married Monica Haas February 28, 1981 in Waterloo. They later divorced.

James was employed with Bertch cabinets in Waterloo for 22 years.

He is survived by a son, Nick Powell of Waterloo; a daughter, Erin Shireman of Cedar Rapids, a brother, Virg (Betty) Powell of Hudson; a sister in law, Barb Powell; and by three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Rick and Jack Powell; and a sister, Kathy Kezar.

Memorial services will be 11:00am Saturday May 27, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street. Public visitation will be from 10:00-11:00am at the funeral home.
