Merlin Floyd Edsill, 89, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Thursday, June 9th at Ravenwood Care Center where he had been residing since 2009.

He was born August 12, 1926, at home near LaPorte City, Iowa, and was the youngest of three children born to Floyd and Blanche Edsill. He married his high school sweetheart Patricia Ann Evans on September 29, 1944 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he was stationed at that time while serving in the Navy.

He is survived by two daughters, Vicky (Wayne) Busma of Oklahoma, and Andi Olsson of Waterloo; by one son, Dan (Becky) Edsill of Waterloo; by 16 grand-children; 39 great-grand-children; eight great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by; his wife, Pat; daughter, Dianne; son, John; great-granddaughter, Alyssa Erickson; his parents; and brother and sister.
