Doris Mable Mitchell, 100, of Waterloo and formerly of Geneseo, died on Monday, October 3, 2016, at Friendship Village in Waterloo.

She was born on July 7, 1916, in rural Buckingham, the daughter of Harold and Virlea (Mitchell) Speer.

On November 25, 1937, she was united in marriage to Charles Norman Mitchell at Geneseo United Methodist Church. Doris graduated from Geneseo High School in 1934, and worked at the Tama County Soil Conservation Office in Toledo, Iowa. She was a member of Geneseo United Methodist Church and enjoyed antiques and exploring Iowa with Norman.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother Erle; and four sisters, Betty, Sara, Elinor, and Marian.

She is survived by three sons, Craig (Diane) of West Des Moines, Brent (Sheryl) of Cape Coral, Florida, and Ken (Pamela) of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Brad (Ellen) Mitchell, Kimm (Mike) Gilmore, Jonathon (Kim) Mitchell, Jason (Candy) Mitchell, Jill (Kurt) Katuin, and Kate (John Leadley) Mitchell; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

The burial will take place in the church cemetery. Please direct memorials to Geneseo United Methodist Church.
