Thomas Scott Burns was born on December 10, 1972, the son of Scott Burns and Joann Davies. He graduated from Waterloo West High School with the class of 1991. Tommy was married to Rita Rund on August 21, 1999; they later divorced. He worked at Martinson Construction for 24 years, then at John Deere. Tommy liked to fish, hunt, smoking food, gardening and canning. He was very social and liked playing pool. Most importantly, Tommy loved his son Luke and the time they spent together.

Tommy passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the age of 43 from complications of surgery.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Art Burns and Lois Rankin; maternal grandparents, Allen and Marie Pfalzgraf; his aunt Karen Lamson and a niece Olivia Aikey.

Tommy is survived by his parents: Scott (Vicki) Burns of Cedar Falls and Joann (Bob) Davies of McGregor; a son Lucas Burns of Waterloo; five sisters: Angie (Jim) Shindelar of Greenfield, Iowa, Ami (Steve Hetrick) Burns of Cedar Falls, Karen (Trevor) Meacham of Waterloo, Carrie (Ben) Broten of Waterloo and Molly (Bob Bembridge) Davies of Waterloo; nieces and nephews: Whitney, Dillon, Kennedy, Landry, Dallis, Frankie, Emerson and Maddox; and aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.

Tommy will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be directed to the family for his son Luke.
