Daryel Lee Hamlin was born December 29, 1938 in Waterloo, Iowa; the son of George and Jessie (Griffith) Hamlin. He attended Lincoln Elementary, Logan Junior High and graduated from East High School in 1957. Daryel served in the United States Air Force. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Price on February 20, 1965 in Preston, Minnesota.

Daryel worked at Wonder Bread Bakery as a shipping supervisor retiring in October 2001 after 32 years. He was an avid bowler for many years, he carried a 220 average.

In later years, he turned to golfing and was a very good golfer, he was a member of the Denver Country Club and made many friends at the club. Daryel was quite the fisherman in his earlier years and passed the love of fishing onto his son and grandson. He was a fix it man and could fix cars and pretty much everything.

One of his biggest passions was attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Daryel loved the Green Bay Packers. He was a very kind and loving husband, he loved his three children and Evelyn tremendously. He had much more love he passed onto his seven grandchildren.

Daryel passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Covenant Medical Center at the age of 78.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Walt and Kathryn Abel and Joe and Mildred Holker; his parents; and a sister Deborah Hamlin.

Daryel is survived by his wife Evelyn of Waterloo; his three children: Kelly Kirchoff of Denver, Daryel (Cindy) Hamlin, Jr. of Clear Lake and Shelly (Jeramey) See of Waterloo; seven grandchildren: Kyle, Shane and Kelsey Kirchoff, Samantha, Jeni and Jackson Hamlin and Dani See; a brother Kirk (Barb) Hamlin of Ponca City, Oklahoma and a sister Julie (Roger) Strohecker of Waterloo. Daryel will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
