Biography--

Mary Lee Elliott, 65, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at home on Wednesday June 8, 2016.

She was born on January 2, 1951 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Hugh and Luella (Haack) Smith. Mary graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1969.

She married Steven S. Elliott on October 2, 1971 at St. Patrick's Church in Cedar Falls.

Mary worked at the Waterloo Public Library as a library aid for the last 20 years. She previously worked at People's Bank and John Deere Community Credit Union as a bank teller and was vice president at Home Savings and Loan.

Mary enjoyed cooking, gardening, making people happy, and she loved being a grandma.

She is survived by her husband, Steven; two sons, Daniel (Heidi) Elliott of Omaha, Neb. and Benjamin (Laura) Elliott of Hopkins, Minn.; three grandsons: Clark, Owen, and Lucas; and by four siblings: Frances Fox of Carmel, Ind., Robert (Sharon) Smith of Fredericksburg, Va., Susan (Eddie) Watkins of Waterloo, and Vicki Smith of Wichita, Kan.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Matthew Elliott; one brother, Allan Smith; and one brother-in-law, Jim Fox.
