Biography--

Harold Frederick Metzger, 81, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at UnityPoint Health ‑ Allen Hospital, in Waterloo, on Monday June 13, 2016.

Harold was born on August 13, 1934, in Menomonie, Wisconsin, son of George F. and Nellie Irene (Tubbs) Metzger. He graduated from Menomonie High School on June 4, 1954. Harold served in the US Army from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1958.

He married Betty Joan Kammerman on January 9, 1965 in Waterloo. She preceded him in death July 22, 1995.

Harold worked for John Deere Company for 27 years, he started in the foundry and later was a chauffeur/mail carrier before retiring in 1987. He was a member of many auto clubs including: Antique Automobile Club of America, Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, Cedar Valley Region of The Antique Automobile Club of America, Mid-Mississippi Valley Region Chevrolet Club, and Model A Ford Club of America.

Harold was a hard worker and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He adored his grandsons, and always made family his top priority.

He is survived by a son, Paul (Barbara) Metzger of Waterloo; a daughter, Michele (Ron) Busch of Waterloo; two grandsons, Zach and Alex Whittle, both of Waterloo; a brother, Richard (Leona) Metzger of Menomonie, WI; four sisters: Esther Beguhn of Oconomowoc, WI, Margaret Trafford of Janesville, WI, Eleanor Brehm of Menomonie, WI and Jean (Pat) Bechel of Elmwood, WI; and a sister-in-law, Elaine Metzger of Beverly Hills, FL.

Harold Metzger was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; a forever friend, Mary Haskell; by two sisters, Georgia Beguhn and Mabel Morse; a brother, Raymond Metzger; four brothers‑in‑law: Frank Trafford, Roland Beguhn, Gordon Beguhn, and Alvin Morse; and by two stepsisters, Dorothy Randolph and Evelyn Berry.
