Memorial service at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Kearns Funeral Service, Kimball Chapel.

Visitation:
One hour prior to services on Tuesday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel.

Cemetery:
Inurnment will precede services at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Memorials:
Cedar Valley Hospice or Westminster Presbyterian Church

Biography:

Ferdinand E. "Ferd" Michaels, 88, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Friday, July 1, 2016 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

Ferd was born November 17, 1927 in Cedar Falls, the son of George Sr. and Marie Pulver Michaels. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1946. Ferd married Margaret Chapman on April 28, 1950, in Cedar Falls.

He was a power house engine room operator at Rath Packing Co. retiring in 1985 after 31 years. Ferd served in the US Army during World War II. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the American Legion.

Ferd is survived by his wife, Margaret of Waterloo; two sons, Richard “Rick” Michaels of Waterloo and Brian Michaels (Jennifer) of Scottsdale, AZ; one daughter, Lori (David) Clabby of Waterloo; four grandsons: Eric (Mandy) Michaels of Prescott, WI, Matthew Michaels of Waterloo, Kyle (Chris Kane) Clabby of Waterloo, and Reed Clabby of Waterloo; one granddaughter, Julia Michaels of Scottsdale, AZ; three great-granddaughters: Marrissa and Adriana Michaels of Waterloo and Emma Michaels of Prescott, WI; one brother, George (Delores) Michaels, Jr. of Waterloo; and one brother-in-law, Roger Schubel of Hudson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lois Schubel.
