Visitation:
Wednesday, July 6 and an hour prior to the services on Thursday at the Funeral Home.

Biography--

Bonnie R. Pauling, age 73, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Saturday, July 2, 2016, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

She was born October 11, 1942, in Spirit Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Vinton and Evelyn (Waimer) Bellows. Bonnie was a graduate of Jackson (Minnesota) High School and attended Minnesota West Community and Technical College in Worthington, Minnesota. She was united in marriage with Merlin A. Pauling on November 24, 1962 in Lakefield, Minnesota.

The couple moved to Waterloo in 1966 and Bonnie worked for Titus Manufacturing for several years. Bonnie and Merlin owned and operated Pauling Auto Supply in Cedar Falls from 1972-1990. She cared for her mother for about three years and they moved to Bethel, Alaska and Bonnie worked for the City of Bethel. The couple returned to Waterloo in 1997 and Bonnie completed her working career as a directory assistance operator for 10 years, retiring in 2008.

Bonnie was an adventurous soul. She liked to travel, camp and experience new places. She was an excellent cook and her home was open to anyone. Bonnie enjoyed serving others and was a “MOM and GRANDMA” to many young people over the years including two foreign exchange students, Lenka and Steffen. She also enjoyed crafting, knitting and sewing. Bonnie and Merlin had recently purchased a home in Texas and had planned to move there this fall after spending the last seven winters there in the warm weather.

Survivors include her husband, Merlin of Waterloo; a daughter, Barb (Bob) Himschoot of Fairbanks, Alaska; three sons: Brian (Julie) Pauling of Dillingham, Alaska, Mike Pauling of Waterloo and Brad Pauling (Special Friend Brianna Welsh) of Oelwein, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, Stephanie (Bobby) Aikins, Alex Himschoot and Elizabeth Himschoot, John A. (Kerrie) Howe, Brianna Pauling (Timmy Folkers) and Tommy Pauling, Nikole (Mark) Enyart, Jacob Pauling (Krista Ellis), Baileigh Pauling (Jeffrey Bales), Erik Pauling, Ema Pauling, Edyn Pauling and Kylee Pauling; three great-grandchildren, Waylon Enyart, Brayden Pauling and Westin Enyart; and a brother, Vinton (Pam) Bellows III of Lakefield, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
