Biography

JoAnn Coller, 80, of La Porte City, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at La Porte City Specialty Care.

She was born November 13, 1935 in New Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of John and Sylvia McGee Blanchard. JoAnn graduated from New Hampton High School with the Class of 1954. She was united in marriage with Donald E. Coller on October 27, 1957, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

JoAnn moved to Waterloo shortly after graduation and worked as a secretary at Rath Packing Co. for more than 10 years. She and Don farmed for many years north of La Porte City. She loved to sew and enjoyed making clothes. JoAnn liked to be outside and always had a large garden. She was a wonderful cook.

Survivors include her husband, Donald of La Porte City; two daughters, Mabel (Bruce) Rempe of La Porte City and Sylvia (Brian) Otten of Terrebonne, Oregon; seven grandchildren: Brady, Ben and Laura Rempe and Evan, JoAnna, Jacob and Ezekiel Otten; and two nephews, Jim (Sharon) Coller of Center Point, Iowa, and Frank (Jeanine) Coller of Bettendorf, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Joe Coller and a niece, Joan Morris.
