Biography--

Florence LaVonne Curtis, 80, of Bridges Senior Living in Waterloo, died September 8, 2016 at Ravenwood Specialty Care.

She was born in Delaware, Iowa, on December 1, 1935. The daughter of Elmer William and Celia (Kastor) Smith. She graduated from high school in Waterloo. Florence married Jerome Edward Curtis on February 9, 1957 in Waterloo.

She worked as an Auditor for Rath Packing Company for 27 years. Florence was a member of Grace United Methodist, Moose Lodge and the Rath Packing Co. Management Club.

Florence and Jerome enjoyed bus trips and showing their Boston Terriers. The dogs were a treasured part of the family as they did not have children of their own. Florence liked BINGO, baking and making candy, especially around the holidays. Florence loved being around people and making new friends.

Survived by her husband, Jerome; sister-in-law, Lucille (Gene) Garthoff of Elk Run Heights; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; and step-sister, Betty Jean Toomer.
