Biography--

Jacob H. “Bear” Hazlet II, 60, of Waterloo, died Friday, December 16, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

He was born June 29, 1956 in Waterloo the son of Jacob H. and Jennie (Alexander) Hazlet, Sr.

He worked as a machinist for Bruns Machine/Laforge Systems Inc. Bear was Past President of the Waterloo Sons of Silence Chapter as well as Regional Past President. He was a proud member for over 38 years.

He is survived by his father, Jacob H. Hazlet of Waterloo; one son, Jacob H. Hazlet IV of Waterloo; one daughter, Jennifer Louise Thompson of Kansas City, Missouri; an adopted daughter, Judy Hansel of Oran, who was with him till the end; his significant other, Barb Murfield of Waterloo; two granddaughters, Eleanor Louise and Emelia Sue Thompson; two brothers, Steven (Linda) Hazlet of Denver, Iowa, David (Linda) Hazlet of Yuma, Arizona; two sisters, Nira (Richard) Achey of Waterloo and Kathy (Gary) Martinson of Newton; eight nieces and nephews and eleven great-nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his mother, Jennie Hazlet and one nephew, Mike Martinson.
