Biography--

Maxine M. Faris, 88, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at ManorCare Health Services, on Saturday, March 11, 2017 after a battle with cancer.

Maxine was born on June 21, 1928 in Waterloo, Iowa, daughter of Donald and Myrtle (Smith) Dickinson. She graduated from East High in 1946.

Maxine married George E. Faris on September 29, 1946 at The Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died July 12, 2011.

She worked as a waitress for over 45 years, primarily at Freeman's/Garfield's. She and George also owned Ranchero Saddle and Western Wear.

She was member of Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Donald Faris of Waterloo; a daughter, Barbara (Doug) McCalley of Waterloo; three grandchildren: Ryan McCalley, Shannon (Dan) Fuller Michelsen, and Blake (Holly) Faris; and three great-grandchildren: Madison McCalley, Brayden Fuller, Lily Christine Faris, and a new great-granddaughter arriving in May.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Faris; a sister, Dorothy Arends; and a nephew, Mike Arends.
