Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 20, 2017 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 320 Mulberry St. in Waterloo

Visitation:
Sunday, March 19 at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, 3146 Kimball Ave. in Waterloo where a parish scripture service will be held at 6 p.m. as well as an hour prior to the service at the church

Cemetery:
St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Hazelton, Iowa

Biography--

Mary “Rozella” Kramer, age 90, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at La Porte City Specialty Care in La Porte City.

Mary Rozella Kramer was born May 30, 1926 in rural Hazelton, Iowa, the daughter of Daniel and Elva (Pingree) Harrington.

She graduated as Valedictorian of her class from Hazelton High School in 1944 and the secretarial program at Gates Business College in Waterloo.

Rozella was united in marriage with John George Kramer on August 28, 1948 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waterloo. He preceded her in death on May 3, 2006.

Prior to her marriage, Rozella was a secretary at Waterloo Steel and Rath Packing Co. While raising her family she worked as a teacher’s aide at Roosevelt School, served as a precinct election worker and played in several bowling leagues.

She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the church choir, John Deere Retiree’s Group and was a member of the Waterloo Mother’s Chorus for over 40 years. Rozella liked playing cards and Yahtzee, was an avid reader and enjoyed gathering with her family for the holidays. She was a longtime faithful follower of Waterloo Columbus High School activities.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann (Bill) Judd of La Porte City; four sons: Tim Kramer of Waterloo, Mike (Becky) Kramer of Waukon, Paul (Robyn) Kramer, missionaries in Thailand and Mark Kramer of Farmington, Minnesota; five grandchildren: Adam Kramer of Waterloo; Kim (Matt) Meyer of Fargo, North Dakota, Andrea (Nick) Sodahl of Burnsville, Minnesota, Will Kramer of Des Moines and Jon (Chelsea) Judd of Rowley, Iowa; and two great-grandsons, Blake and Harrison Meyer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; a grandson, Clay Kramer; a daughter-in-law, Diane Kramer; her sister, Stella Damge and her brother, James Harrington.
