Friday, March 24, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church: 715 College St., Cedar Falls.

Military Rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 and U.S. Navy Honor Guard Funeral Detail.

Visitation:
Thursday, March 23, at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel

Biography--

Ervin W. Bahr, age 88, of Cedar Falls and formerly of Washburn, died on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Windhaven of Western Home Communities.

He was born on November 26, 1928 in Eau Claire, WI; the son of Ewald O. and Lydia (Thiel) Bahr. He graduated high school in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, in 1946. Ervin served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was honorably discharged April 1948.

Ervin married Betty Lou Stanford on April 8, 1950 in Eau Claire, WI; she preceded him in death on May 16, 2004. He worked as an inspector at John Deere for 32 years. Ervin was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, VFW Post 1623, and UAW Post 838 of Waterloo.

Ervin is survived by his three sons, Jim (Joanne) Bahr of Woodbury, Minnesota; Jeff (Jean) Bahr of Appleton, WI, and Larry Bahr of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter, Jill (Jerry) Boesen of Cedar Falls; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; a daughter, Jane Else; four brothers, Clarence, Raymond “Tony,” Victor, and Roy.
