CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Douglas N. Hammel, 76, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.

He was born January 30, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of Layton L. and Aileen M. Schulte Hammel.

He graduated from Cresco High School in 1958 and was a groundskeeper for Hawkeye Community College, Waterloo.

Douglas is survived by a son, Paul Hammel of Kokomo, IN; a sister, Constance (Thomas) Sacra of Tucson, AZ; two brothers, Thomas (Linda) Hammel of Delafield, WI, and Gregory Hammel of Mason City; four nieces, Sarah, Cailley and Cassandra Hammel, Ann Sacra; two nephews, Sean Hammel and Allen Sacra; and his companion, Diane Brink.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Reginald Hammel

Memorial Services: Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls.
