Edward "Sid" Dale Sidler

August 28, 1938 - September 23, 2016

Cedar Falls, Iowa – Edward “Sid” Dale Sidler, age 78, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, September 23, 2016 at Western Home Communities Martin Center.

He was born August 28, 1938, in Maynard, Iowa, the son of John and Dorothy (Payne) Sidler. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1956. Upon entering the National Guard, he completed officer and flight schools.

He served in the US National Guard as a helicopter pilot, flying for Air Care of Covenant Medical Center following retirement from the Guard.

Sid is survived by five children: Lori (Dave) Rasmusson of Cedar Falls, Lisa (Mike) Bown of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Tom (Angel) Sidler of Birmingham, Alabama, Samantha (Patrick) Buckingham of Ankeny, and John (Jesica) Sidler of Boone; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Kathy) Sidler of Burnsville, Minnesota, and Laverne (Glenda) Sidler of Waterloo; a sister, Sally (Merle) Pedley of Ocheyedan, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Mae Copeland, and a brother, Jim Sidler.

Memorial Services will be on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Prairie Lakes Church, Cedar Falls. Visitation will be on Friday, at Richardson Funeral Service. Military Honors provided by the Cedar Falls AMVETS post #49.
