Richard Lee Neuenkirk (1939-2016)

WATERLOO, IOWA – Richard Lee Neuenkirk, 76, of Waterloo, died Saturday, October 8, 2016, at his son’s home in Waterloo.

He was born December 23, 1939, in Iowa City, son of Carl and Alice (Gardner) Neuenkirk. He married Marjorie “Marge” Avis on January 8, 1988, in Waterloo.

He was a self-employed mechanic and delivered papers for the Chicago Tribune and New York Times.

Richard is survived by his wife, Marge Neuenkirk of Waterloo; five sons: Bobby Cronan of Waterloo, Carl (Brenda) Cronan of Michigan, Rex (Karen) Neuenkirk of Washington, Quintin (Debbie) Neuenkirk of Waterloo, and Daniel “Boone” Neuenkirk of Washington; four daughters: Erica Neuenkirk of Waterloo, Dawn (Steve Wilson) Albrecht of Cedar Falls, Becky (Frankie Baldwin) Xique and Crystal Travino, both of Washington; stepson, Richard Byerly of Waterloo; four stepdaughters: Gina Boysen, Robin Beck, Cheryl Greene and Melissa (Gabe) Granado, all of Waterloo; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and by two sisters, Maxine Alcott and Carleen Gallaway, both of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Neuenkirk, and by several brothers, sisters, and grandchildren.

Family directed memorial services will be held Wednesday at Faith Assembly of God Church in Elk Run Heights, 5112 Lafayette Road.
