CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Neoma Mae Petersen, 94, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at NewAldaya Lifescapes.

She was born May 21, 1922, in Kenesaw, Nebraska, the daughter of Lawrence and Zella Mae (Mills) Kueck.

She married Robert W. Petersen January 12, 1947, in Lincoln, NE. He died January 6, 2000.
Neoma graduated from Kenesaw, Nebraska High School and attended Kearney State Teachers College and Hastings College. She worked as a teacher in rural Nebraska, a banker with First National Bank in Cedar Falls, and with Social Services, retiring in 1984.

She is survived by her daughter, Marsha (Mark) Newton of Cedar Falls; two sons, Wayne (Linda) of Iowa City, Clark of Minneapolis; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Neoma was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter and son-in-law, Gretchen (Roger) Phippen; and Clark’s partner, David Reuben Tesch.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 12, 2017 at NewAldaya Chapel in Cedar Falls, with interment in the Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time in the chapel.
