Obituary for Robert Leo Dykes

CEDAR FALLS-Robert Leo Dykes, 55, of Joliet, IL, formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, February 16, 2017 in an industrial accident in Rockdale, IL.

He was born April 14, 1961, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Eldon Leo and Kathryn Louise Dykes. He graduated from Waterloo Central High School in 1979. He had been employed at FedEx and Nieman Marcus, both in Chicago, and currently self-employed in antique and machinery sales.
Robert is survived by two sisters, Kathy (Bob) Rowray of Delhi and Kiona (Darren) Pommer of Cedar Falls; one brother, Chris Dykes of St. Petersburg, FL; two nieces, Kaylee Mettlin and Brandi Bresson; one nephew Josh (Amy) Minikus; two uncles, James (Marcia McKee) Wahner and Jerry (Donna) Dykes, great niece Zoey Bresson, and many other aunts and cousins.

Preceded by: parents, uncles, and grandparents.
Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls, with interment in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and also one hour prior to the services.

Bob enjoyed being a man of all trades, animals, art, music, gardening, flowers, entertaining his friends and family and helping others. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
