Mary Ellen Wood (1941-2017)

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Mary Ellen Wood, 76, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Western Home Communities Windridge.

She was born January 27, 1941 in Sioux City, Iowa, daughter of Francis and Mabel (Bauerly) Earley. She married Donald Wood on June 2, 1962 in Hampton, Iowa.

She graduated from Primghar High School and earned her BA degree in Education from the University of Northern Iowa. She retired from teaching in the Cedar Falls School District and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Survived by: her husband of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Julia (Mitchell) Stoll of Overland Park, KS; two sons, John (Christina) Wood of Waterloo and Jason Wood of Miami, FL; five grandchildren: Anna Stoll, Kathryn Wood, Alexandra Wood, Samantha Wood and John Wood II; a brother, Robert (Donna) Earley of Cameron, MO; and a sister-in-law, Margaret (Bob) Otis of Elkhorn, NE.

Preceded in death by: a brother, John Earley.

Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Service, where there will be a 4 p.m. Rosary. Visitation also for one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Waterloo or Cedar Falls Public Libraries or the church.
