A private family celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, June 22 and a public gathering on Saturday, June 25 from 10:00 a.m. to Noon at Locke Funeral Home.

Biography--

Bonnie Bell Torgerson, 82, of Waterloo, died Sunday, June 19, 2016 at UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital.

She was born September 29, 1933 in Viola, Wisconsin, the daughter of Dale W. and Thelma L. Hoke Kanable and graduated in 1951 from Westby High School, Wisconsin.

She married Richard J. “Torgie” Torgerson May 16, 1953 in Caledonia, Minnesota. He died October 25, 2015.

She was a Teacher’s Associate for Waterloo Community School District for 21 years, retiring in 1993; however her favorite “job” was spending time with the grandchildren. Bonnie enjoyed reading (especially mysteries), playing BINGO, working her Word Search and Crossword puzzles, and being with family.

Bonnie is survived by her 8 children: daughters: Debra Torgerson, Linda (Steve) Kohlmeyer, Judy Dumire, Laurie (Gunnar) Hattrup, and Melissa (Doyle) MacMahon, and sons: Steven (Edie) Torgerson, Donald Torgerson, and Bruce (Tina) Torgerson, all of Waterloo; her brother, Dale “Allen” (Jan) Kanable of Cashton, Wisconsin; sister, Susan Kanable of Monona, Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and the “Ninth Kid,” Robin.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, twin granddaughters, and sister, Patricia Biever.
