Biography--

Dorothy Alice Nordman, 97, of Waterloo, died Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Lakeview Landing of Friendship Village.

Dorothy was born March 7, 1919 in Atlantic, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Mae Jennings Repass. She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1937 and attended Cornell College and Iowa State University.

She married Martin A. Nordman in 1965 in Cedar Rapids. He died January 22, 2003. Dorothy worked in the Purchasing Department at John Deere, retiring in 1984.

She had been a member of Waterloo First United Methodist Church, PEO Chapter LO, and TTT Club. Dorothy and Martin had enjoyed traveling; traveling almost everywhere in the world together.

Survivors include a son David (Lynn) Axtell of Cedar Falls; daughter-in-law Gail Axtell of Loveland, Colorado; five granddaughters: Tammy (Dan) Barth, Kelly (Chris) Bovone, Wendy (Jim) Jermier, Jenny (Chad) Hartz, and Erin (Koji) Hirota; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister Margaret Carspecken of Wasau, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy is preceded in death by a son Doug Axtell and a brother Don Repass.

Dorothy was a dear, sweet lady who was loved by her family and all who knew her. She will be truly missed.
