Biography--

Phyllis J. Grimstad, Age: 77, of Cedar Falls died at: Martin Health Ctr of Western Home Communities Sunday, October 30, 2016 of Complications of Alzheimer's Disease.

She was born June 1, 1939 in Sumner, Iowa, daughter of Orville and Ruby Korman Volker. She graduated from Orange High School in 1957.

She married Ervin "Butch" Grimstad on August 8, 1958 at Trinity American Lutheran Church in Waterloo. He died December 15, 2003. Phyllis worked at Powers Manufacturing in Waterloo for 5 years, retiring in 2004 and worked at Marion Laboratories in Kansas City for many years before moving back to Iowa in 1996. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church.

Phyllis loved her family, camping, playing board and card games and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. She enjoyed sewing and knitting Christmas stockings, mittens, and slippers.

Phyllis is survived by her five daughters: Dawn Rupe of DeSoto, Kansas, Michele (Paul) Beal of Waterloo, Denise (Kirk) Wright of Buckner, Missouri, Jerri (Ben) Doster of Higginsville, Missouri, and Robin (Doug) Hon of Lathrop, Missouri; a son, Jason of Waterloo; 15 grandchildren; 10 great‑grandchildren; two sisters: Virginia Terfehn of Waterloo and Nancy Naughton of Marion, Iowa; and a sister‑in‑law, Mary Volker of Waterloo.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Burnette Volker; and a son‑in‑law, Ron Rupe.
