Biography--

John Michael Kelley D.C., 78, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 8, 2016, of heart failure at his home.

John Michael Kelley was born March 23, 1938, in Waterloo, son of Clifton R. and Eleanor E. Duke Kelley. He graduated from West High School in 1956 and continued his education graduating in December 1962 from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.

He married Marjorie Ann Priest on July 28, 1962, in Waterloo. Dr. Kelley practiced as a Chiropractor from January 1963 to January 2014, 21 years in Traer and the remainder of his career in Waterloo. He was a member of the Waterloo Worship Center where he served on the Board of Directors. Over the years, he was involved in several community organizations and groups. In his spare time, Dr. Kelley enjoyed classic cars, antique clocks, and even learned to play piano by ear with the hymn, “How Great Thou Art,” being his favorite.

Dr. Kelley is survived by his wife, Marjorie; two daughters, Shari Hahn and her husband Steve of Davenport and Angella Kelley-McClure and her husband Dave of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a son, Michael Kelley and his wife Dione of Keota, Iowa; ten grandchildren: Justin, Cameron, Shannon, Cullen, Tyler, Brooke, Megan, Karah, Devon and Luke; two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Link; and his sister: Karen Dahlgaard and her husband Roger of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Arlene Kelley; a son, David J. Kelley; his parents and a sister, Kate Coleman.
