Marguerite M. "Micki" Tarr, 95, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 at ManorCare Health Services.
She was born July 19, 1921, in Waterloo to Carl and Blanche Foffel Schumann. She married Warren L. Tarr on Aug. 2, 1945, at First Lutheran Church, Waterloo.
Micki was a 1939 East High School graduate. She served as a stenographer for the War Department in Washington, D.C., during World War II, was a homemaker and she helped manage an Orange Julius in Crossroads Shopping Mall. She was a member of St. Ansgar Lutheran Church and also volunteered for Covenant Medical Center and Landmark Commons.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Michael (Christine) of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Karen Tarr of St. Paul, Minn., and Jan (Rick Aster) Tarr of Fort Collins, Colo.; six grandchildren, Tiffany (Ryan) Reasland, Brad (Jenny) Tarr, Scott Bishop, Mike Bishop, Ellen Aster and Julie Aster; and four great-grandchildren, Addyson, Colton, Harper and Dylan.
Micki traveled extensively with Elder Hostel. She also enjoyed knitting and baking but loved being outdoors, hiking, skiing and especially biking. She was a member of League of American Wheelmen and Rainbow Cyclists.
