CEDAR FALLS, IOWA — Christie Kay Hinz, 64, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, February 24, at Sartori Memorial Hospital. She was born December 1, 1952, in Cedar Falls, daughter of Charles George and Vera May “Sis” Hansen Backerman. She married Richard E. “Herman” Hinz on Dec. 6, 1975, at First Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

Christie graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1971 and completed two years of specialized training in medical coding and billing. Christie had worked at City Builders, Control-O-Fax and was an Avon representative for 15 years. She was an 11-year member of the Conestoga Council of Girl Scouts where she served as service unit manager, school organizer, troop leader and co-leader from Daisy through Senior scouts.

Survived by: her husband; two daughters, four grandchildren, and her father of Evansdale.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Family-directed celebration of life service: 4 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waterloo. A 3 p.m. prayer service will be held before services at the church.
