Dolores F. Tamisiea (1930-2016)

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Dolores F. Tamisiea, 85, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the Western Home Communities Nation Cottage.

She was born November 17, 1930, in Schleswig, Iowa, daughter of Herbert and Amanda (Bielenberg) Miller. She married John Durham on June 13, 1954 and he died August 17, 1977. She then married Don Tamisiea on January 2, 1988 in Cedar Falls.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Northern Iowa and was an executive secretary at Viking Pump for over 25 years. She was Past President of Business and Professional Women and APPLAUD Board of Directors. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls.

Survived by: her husband of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Cynthia Traxler of Lyons, CO, and Laurel Durham of Phoenix, AZ; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Arlene Sonken of Kearney, NE, Lois Nevil of Phoenix, and Barbara Kerbane of Dallas, TX; and two brothers, Wayne Miller of Schleswig, IA, and Larry Miller of Phoenix.

Preceded by: a brother, Melvin Miller.

Private family services will be held with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, Northeast Iowa Food Bank or the Western Home Foundation.
