CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – John W. Clark, 94, of Cedar Falls died Thursday, May 26, 2016, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls.

He was born September 11, 1921, in Finchford, Iowa, son of William and Grace (Howe) Clark. He married Betty I. Hill on October 17, 1939 in Waverly, Iowa. She died July 31, 2000.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked construction before joining the Cedar Falls Fire Department, retiring as assistant fire chief in December of 1976. In retirement, he sold Real Estate. He was a volunteer with E.P.I. for 24 years, Cedar Valley Hospice for 10 years, and a member of Prairie Lakes Church in Cedar Falls.

Survived by: three nieces, Sandra (Eldon) Brasch, Debbie Wockenfufs, and Becky Schroeder; and one nephew, David Putnam.

Preceded in death by: an infant daughter, Nancy; a son, Frank Allen Clark; two sisters, May Arnold and Doris Putnam; and a brother, Frank Clark.

Services: 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel at NewAldaya Lifescapes with burial in Washington Chapel Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, and for one hour prior to the service Thursday at the chapel.
