Emperatriz Diaz Esteban (1941-2016)

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Emperatriz Diaz Esteban, 75, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Bogotá, Colombia, died Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

She was born January 22, 1941 in Bogotá, daughter of Jacinto Diaz and Julia Elena Esteban.

She earned multiple masters degrees relating to education, including Rehabilitative Pedagogy. She worked as a Superintendent of the Secretary of Education for the District Capital, Bogota, Colombia.

Survived by: two sons, Jairo (Lynsie Maynard) Avila of Cedar Falls; and Leandro (Kay) Avila of Coralville.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls, with visitation for one hour prior to the service. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.
