Frank Paul Lape

May 19, 1935 - May 24, 2016

Frank P. Lape, 81, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, May 24 at UnityPoint Allen Hospital.

He was born May 19, 1935 in Columbus, Ohio, son of John C. and Mary D. Clark Lape. He married Valerie J. Barta October 2, 1960 in Waterloo.

Frank graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas high school in Ohio. He was employed with John Deere for 26 years, retiring in 1995. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the US Air Force.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Teresa (Dennis) Crowl of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Chris (Kayla) Crowl and Alisa (Josh) Hurtado; three great-grandchildren, Elle, Kynzie and Khloe.

Preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Bill, George, Jim and John.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 27 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post, VFW Post 1623 and the U. S. Air Force Honor Guard. Public visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty – Waychoff – Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway. Visitation will continue for an hour before services at the church on Friday.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
