Muriel Darlene Snyder

February 16, 1926 - May 26, 2016

Muriel D. Snyder, 90, was born to Roy and Ithe Blair Doran in Sioux City, Iowa, on February 16, 1926. She died peacefully, surrounded by her children on May 26, 2016.

As a girl she attended schools in Sioux City and married Robert E. Snyder on June 16, 1949.

Muriel and Robert lived briefly in Ely, Nevada before moving to Worthington, Minnesota in 1951. They raised their five children in Worthington and were faithful members of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. In 1990 they moved to the Park Rapids, Minnesota area where they spent their retirement years in their lake home on Eagle Lake. Muriel returned to Worthington following Robert’s death in 2007. In 2015 she again relocated to her daughter’s home in Waterloo, Iowa where she received excellent care until her death.

Muriel is survived by her son, Robert Snyder of Worthington, MN; daughters, Janelle (Mike) Johnson of Worthington, MN, Joan (Wayne) Smedsrud of Volga, SD, Laurie Walker of Waterloo, IA; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren and a sister, Barbara Garlow.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert and a daughter, Diane Ling, both of whom she was greatly looking forward to seeing again.

There will be a private family service at a later date.
