Alda Folsom (1914-2016)

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Alda Folsom, 101, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, May 16, 2016 at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls.

She was born July 19, 1914 in Chickasaw County, Iowa, daughter of Willard and Ellen (Dungey) Trewin. She married George Llewellyn in 1933 and they later divorced. She married John Folsom in 1948 and he preceded her in death on September 23, 1986.

She graduated from Alpha Consolidated School in 1932. During the war, she worked at Associated Manufacturing making bomb cases on the assembly line. After that, she did clerical work and waitressing and then was a homemaker.

She is is urvived by a daughter, Margaret Watkins of South Carolina; eleven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Jerry Llewellyn and Jack Folsom; a daughter, Janice Osborn; daughters-in-law, Sylvia Llewellyn and Laurel Folsom; grandson, Jeff Folsom; great-grandson, Jackson Llewellyn; stepmother, Edith Trewin; sister, Margaret Pierce; and nephew, Jack Pierce.

Services: Friday at Richardson Funeral Service with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and also for one hour prior to services Friday.
