Biography--

Donald F. "Don" Wilson, 69, of Washburn, Iowa, died at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, on Monday, May 9, 2016 of esophageal cancer.

Don was born on May 12, 1946, in Independence, Iowa, the son of Lester and Marie Hill Wilson. He graduated from Waterloo West High School.

Don married Nancy Johnson in 1965; they later divorced. He married Roberta Kay O'Dell on August 27, 1973 in Las Vegas.

He worked for Paramount Distributing, was a salesman at Hanawalt Ford, then worked at Rath Packing Co. Along with his wife, Don owned and operated Washburn Ceramics for 25 years and then most recently delivered motorhomes for Winnebago.

Don loved cats and never met a cat he didn’t like. He was an enthusiastic Elvis Presley fan and was able to see him perform on four separate occasions. Don had a love for classic cars, especially Mustangs – which he currently owned as well as others over the years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and even went to a race in Las Vegas.

Survived by his wife, Roberta Wilson of Washburn; children, Julie (Mike) Albright of Waverly, Christopher (Charity) Wilson of Arvada, Colorado, Lori O'Dell of Waterloo, Terry (Joel) Osmundson of Washburn, Craig (Helida) Vaala of Waterloo, and Scott Vaala of Colorado Springs, CO; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sandi Devine of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Preceded in death by his parents and two infant grandsons.
