Dunkerton, Iowa – Kristin Jo DeLong, 74 years old of Dunkerton, died Sunday, May 1, 2016, at her home in Dunkerton from T-cell Leukemia.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. – Thursday, May 5, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Dunkerton. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the White Funeral Home in Jesup, Iowa, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church. Memorials will be directed to the Dunkerton Library and the First Baptist Church.

Kristin was born February 18, 1942, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Glenn Harvey Shimp and Margaret Alyne (Flowers) Shimp. She graduated from Dunkerton High School with the class of 1960 and two months later on July 23, 1960, she was united in marriage to Thomas Jurgens DeLong at the First Baptist Church in Dunkerton.

She was a homemaker, special Ed driver, an avid reader, and loved to knit and crochet. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dunkerton and was active as church organist and pianist. She was a life-long resident of Dunkerton, living in the same block she grew up in for over 50 years. She will be missed by her family and her beloved pets: Niki and Annie.

Kristin is survived by her husband, Tom; two daughters, Lisa (Bill) Shook and Denise (Scott) Schock; and one son, David (Cheryl) DeLong, all of Dunkerton; also 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers, Stephen Shimp of St. Paul, NM, and Thomas Shimp of Cedar Falls, IA. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by and infant brother and their eldest child, a daughter, Wendy Jo Broten.
