Everett D. Juhl (1930-2016)

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Everett D. Juhl, 86, of Cedar Falls died Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Harmony House in Waterloo.

He was born March 21, 1930, in Reinbeck, Iowa, son of Martin and Lillian (Schmidt) Juhl. He married Shirley Maltas on March 18, 1955 at St. Paul Methodist Church in Waterloo.

He graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1947 and was a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed with Reinbeck Heating and Plumbing and then Dean’s Heating and Miller Mechanical Contractor, retiring in 1992. He was past Commander of Reinbeck American Legion Post #242, a member of Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49, and was Scout Master of Troop #149 in the early 1970s. Everett enjoyed camping with family and friends, playing pool, traveling and working on home projects.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; three sons: Dave Juhl of Cedar Falls and Ross (Jill) Juhl of Waterloo, and Dan (Lisa) Juhl of Colorado Springs, CO; and four grandchildren: Macey and Nick Juhl and Hannah and Emily Juhl.

He was preceded in death by three sisters: Bertha Juhl, Alta Severson, and Velma Brown; and by four brothers: James, Lyman, Elvin and Delbert Juhl.

Memorial Services: Monday at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls with inurnment in Fairview Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, and also for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
